Business Innovation Extension Stream
The Business Innovation stream's Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) holders may prolong their stay in Australia with the use of this provisional visa.
- Request a stay extension of up to two additional years. Your Subclass 188 visa under the Business Innovation stream allows you to reside in Australia for a total of 6 years.
- Only one Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa may have been held by you (subclass 188).
- You must currently be in possession of a Subclass 188 visa in the Business Innovation stream, and you must have had that visa for at least three years.
- You must not be nominated by an Australian State or Territory government agency.
Stay
After the original Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (Subclass 188) in the Business Innovation stream was granted, you may stay in Australia for up to 6, 7, or 8 years.

Significant Investor Extension Stream
This provisional visa enables holders of a Significant Investor stream Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188) to stay in Australia for up to 4 more years.
- Request an additional four years of residency. As a result, you have a total of 8 years to live in Australia after receiving your Subclass 188 visa under the Significant Investor stream.
- Either a Subclass 188 visa in the Significant Investor Extension stream or a Subclass 188 visa in the Significant Investor stream must have been held by the applicant for at least three years.
- In the Significant Investor Extension stream, you may not have held more than one Subclass 188 visa.
- Applicants must be nominated by Austrade or a government organization from an Australian state or territory.

Individuals who invest at least AUD15 million in Australian investments and/or charitable contributions and who are nominated by Austrade are eligible for this interim visa.
